Job search · 12 recordsJob search

A job search fails in two different ways — not enough applications out, or not enough preparation behind them — so they are two projects, tracked separately. The target date is deliberately close: a search with no date drifts.

How to read this

Applications is a pipeline: one task per live application, closed when it ends either way. A rejection closes a task, same as an offer — the count of open ones is how full the pipeline actually is.

Interview prep is the half that gets skipped when the pipeline feels busy. It is a separate project so that it stays visible when it does.

Questions

Job search, answered.

Enough that no single one carries the week. Because each live application is one open task here, the count of open tasks in the applications project is a direct read on how full the pipeline actually is, which is the number worth watching.
Because it is the half that gets dropped when the pipeline feels busy. Separating it means it stays visible on its own terms rather than becoming the thing you will do once the applications slow down, which is exactly the wrong time.
Close the task. A rejection ends an application the same way an offer does, and leaving dead ones open makes the pipeline look fuller than it is — which is the specific illusion that makes people stop applying too early.
