Pass a language exam, answered.

With a timed past paper in the first fortnight, before feeling ready. It is uncomfortable and it is the only way to find which of the four skills is actually weakest, which is where the time should go.
With a person, on a schedule. Speaking is the skill people postpone until they feel prepared, and feeling prepared to speak is something that only ever arrives after having spoken badly a number of times.
This plan runs on twelve weeks, which allows two full timed mocks with real work between them. Much shorter and there is only time for one pass, which tells you where you stand and not whether you improved.
