Just pick.

Sixteen pairs, five minutes, and a surprisingly useful picture of how the people you work with prefer to work.

Why it works

The fastest one here.

Camera on or camera off. Plan it or wing it. Praise in public or praise in private. Each round is one tap and the whole thing fits in the five minutes before a meeting properly starts.

It is the one to reach for when somebody says 'shall we do an icebreaker' and the room visibly deflates, because it is over before anybody has had time to dread it.

Worth knowing

It is quietly a working-preferences survey.

Half of these are genuine questions about how somebody wants to be managed, dressed up as a party game. Praise in public against praise in private is the sort of thing a manager might never ask and would benefit from knowing.

You will not get a report out of it. You will get eight people finding out that six of them would rather have the brief in writing, which tends to change the next week without anybody deciding to.

✦ How to play

Three steps, and none of them is signing up.

1
Open and share

Sixteen pairs in the pack; run as many rounds as you have minutes for.

2
One tap each

Two buttons, no third option, and no explaining yourself until afterwards.

3
Watch the splits

The interesting ones are the near-even splits on things everybody assumed were obvious.

Questions

This or that: work edition, answered.

Speed and stakes. Would you rather gives you two elaborate scenarios and expects an argument; this gives you two words and expects an instinct. Run this one at the top of a meeting and the other when you have actually set time aside.
Yes, and it still comes in under ten minutes. Eight is the better number if it is a warm-up rather than the event.
Yes, with its own set of pairs written for two people rather than a team.
