Why it works

Awards that are actually nice.

Most office award lists are built around a joke at somebody's expense, which is fine right up until the person voted 'most likely to be late' is on a performance plan nobody in the room knows about.

These are all sincere. Best at explaining something complicated. Most reliably calm when everything is on fire. Most consistently underrated. They are the things people genuinely think about their colleagues and almost never say, and hearing your name read out for one of them lands harder than a gag would.

Worth knowing

One category at a time.

The whole set is revealed together at the end, but each category resolves on its own first, so there is a moment for every winner rather than one wall of results nobody reads.

It works well as a quarterly thing and very well as the last fifteen minutes before a holiday.

✦ How to play

Three steps, and none of them is signing up.

1
Open a room

Pick how many categories to run. Twelve is about right for a team of eight.

2
Everybody joins

One link, one name each. People can only be voted for if they have taken a seat.

3
Vote and reveal

One category per round, tally revealed when the last vote lands, and a summary of every winner at the end.

Questions

Office superlatives, answered.

Yes, and one person sweeping three categories is usually the funniest outcome of the whole thing. There is no attempt to spread the results around, because a rigged award is worth nothing.
It is shown as a tie. Two people sharing 'best taste in absolutely everything' is a perfectly good result and nobody needs a tiebreak.
Not currently. The pack has eighteen and you choose how many to run, drawn in a different order each time.
Not really, no. It needs people to have opinions about each other already. For a newer team, who is most likely to works better, because the prompts are about habits somebody can guess at rather than a judgement they have to have earned.
