Christmas is the most counted-down date of the year, and the counting starts absurdly early — which is half the fun. This one runs live and needs no account, so it can sit open on a tab, a spare tablet or a screen in the kitchen.
The date is worked out in your browser from your own clock each time this page loads, so it is right in any year and reaches zero when Christmas arrives where you are — not where a server happens to be.
A countdown is honest about how long is left and says nothing at all about whether the things that were supposed to happen first have happened.
