Experiments

Life RPGYour life,
as a character sheet.

The useful thing about a character sheet is not the fantasy, it is the shape. Six numbers side by side make an uneven spread obvious in a way that a list of feelings never does, and every role-playing player understands instinctively what it means to have dumped a stat — you took the penalty deliberately, for a reason, and it will come up later.

Free, no sign-up. Worked out in your browser, nothing sent anywhere, and the result imports into EvyOS.

Level 5 Generalist

Body5/10
Mind5/10
Craft5/10
Coin5/10
Kin5/10
Spirit5/10

Your quest: Body

One stat, thirty days. Spreading the effort across six is how nothing moves.

  • Thirty days of one physical thing on most days. Walking counts. The bar is frequency, not intensity.

Dump stat: Body at 5

Your weakest, though not catastrophically. Worth a season before it becomes the thing everything else has to work around.

Unusually even

No stat is carrying the others and none is about to break. Less dramatic than a specialist sheet and considerably more durable.

This result contains something worth keeping.

Nothing has left this device. The link carries the result in the part of a URL browsers never send to a server, and you will see exactly what it is going to create before anything is saved.

Only the link and that one line are shared. Nothing you typed goes with it.

✦ How to use it

Three things that make it work.

1
Score against a realistic bar

Ten is the best version of somebody you actually know, not a professional athlete or a monk.

2
Find the dump stat

It will be obvious. The question is whether you dumped it on purpose.

3
Take the quest

One stat, thirty days. Spreading effort across six is how nothing moves.

Most people have a dump stat. It is usually the same one for a decade, it is rarely chosen consciously, and it is almost always the one that eventually forces a change of plan.

Score honestly. The level is the average, so inflating one number just makes the sheet less useful to you and no more impressive to anybody, since nobody else is going to see it.

✦ The limit

An answer is not a record.

This works something out and then forgets it. It cannot tell you whether the number moved, because it has no memory of the last time you ran it and no idea what you did in between. Every calculator on the internet has that limit, and if it has never bothered you then this one is yours for free for good.

EvyOS is the same structure with the work recorded against it. Send the result across and it becomes real goals, tasks or habits with their dates — then the next answer is computed from what actually happened rather than from what you remember typing.

Questions

Life RPG, answered.

The one you have quietly accepted being bad at. In a role-playing game you dump a stat deliberately, for a reason, knowing it will come up later. Most people have one in real life for a decade without ever having chosen it, and it is usually what eventually forces a change of plan.
No, it is a real strategy with a real bill. A spread of five or more points means one part of your life is subsidising the rest, which works well and works until it does not — and the bill tends to arrive at an inconvenient moment about a decade in.
Against somebody you actually know who is good at that thing, not against a professional athlete or a monk. Inflating a number only makes the sheet less useful to you, since nobody else is going to see it.
Because six quests is zero quests. The dump stat is picked for you specifically so that the choice is not another thing to deliberate over.
Same idea, much smaller. Habitica gamifies your daily tasks; this is a single honest snapshot and one quest. If you want the ongoing version, tracking the habit is what EvyOS does — this is the diagnosis, not the game.

Keep the answer.
And the record of doing it.

Goals, projects, tasks, habits and skills in one system, with the work logged against what it belonged to.
